Caveats to the use of IllusionOfKnowledge.com
(aka "Sometimes The Gadfly Gets Squashed")

If you're trying to argue that a gun is loaded and you shoot yourself in the foot, it doesn't really matter that you were right. The following excellent advice came from one of the docs at our hospital recently:

For the first six months of your internship, here's what you have to do: Shut The Hell Up and Work Your Ass Off ... Once you've developed a reputation as a hard worker that everybody respects, then you can start bringing up new ideas.

Rocking the boat with your first step on board is not wise (those of you who know me, please, no need to point out the hypocrisy in this statement...). Just because you find a contrarian article here doesn't make it right. Nobody here is responsible if you go telling your attending "neener-neener, I found an article that proves that you're wrong," and it turns out to be a crummy article. Even if it's a flawless article, the squeaky wheel (you) may just get replaced.

This is not a peer-reviewed site, except insofar as I and other readers are your peers. I claim no grand expertise, only a desire to encourage learning at all levels and in all disciplines of medicine and science in general. You are 100% responsible for what you do with information found on this site

So, with all that in mind... Enjoy the site!
